If you own a dog, it’s your responsibility to make sure it receives the proper training to make it adapt to its environment. If you don’t, your dog will incur in bad behavior, barking at strangers for no reason, running after cars and waking up everyone in the neighbor at night. It doesn’t matter how old your dog or puppy is or how bad it misbehaves, you still need to spend some quality time training it until it learns to behave better.

If your dog is meant to be a guard dog, it should be able to bark at night so that it alerts you of the presence of unwelcome visitors, but it should not bark so much during the day when you don’t need noise. In addition, dogs should not jump on house guests when they visit you, specially if they are afraid of dogs, or soon you’ll end up with no visits at all. A properly trained dog will be able to tell the difference between someone who is welcome in the home and someone they should be alerting you about.

When training your dog, a way to get good results in a shorter amount of time is by using a training tool, for example, an electric dog training collar. Since remote dog training collars were made available to the public, they have shown consistent results when training dogs of all types of breeds in restraining their barking only to situations where it’s not an inconvenient. You can find the electric dog training collars at pretty much any pet supplies store you shop at and they are quite affordable.

When dogs bark more than necessary, the electric dog collars will correct them by administering a mild electric shock to the dogs. You do have the option of turning the collar on and off so you do not have to take the collar all the way off when you want them to be able to bark. In general, electric dog training collars are a great tool to teach your dog some discipline.

Other Options

If you find that a shock, no matter how mild, is not acceptable for training your dog, there are other options you can try other than remote dog training collars. For instance, instead of getting an electric dog training collar, you can try an ultrasonic dog training collar. Instead of an electrical shock the dog will simply hear a high-pitched noise that is going to stop them from barking.

A lot of owners prefer these sorts of dog training collars because they are not as intense. It’s up to you to decide which method to use, considering your time, the purpose of the training, and of course, your budget.
